HPE GreenLake: IT Flexibility on Steroids (Video)

Sure, the letters "i" and "t" can be found together in the word "flexibility," but getting genuine flexibility in terms of the provision of IT - in other words to build IT capabilities dynamically around necessary outcomes rather than foundational inputs - has long remained a big challenge for the industry and consumers alike, both operationally and commercially.

In Conversation with Warner Bros. Entertainment's Doug Crawford at HPE Discover 2018 (Video)

While at HPE Discover 2018, I had the opportunity to sit down with Doug Crawford from Warner Bros. Entertainment. As it turns out, Warner Bros. Entertainment is one of HPE Aruba’s oldest customers. We discussed how they were leveraging  HPE Aruba solutions, how their environment has evolved and how they plan to leverage HPE Aruba solutions in the future to enhance the experience at the studios.

Discovering a Renewed HPE (Video)

One of the fascinating parts of my job is watching companies ebb, flow, and change over time. Sometimes it’s stealth ideas in borrowed offices, sometimes it’s start-ups that are “Roman Candles” or bloom to maturity and/or acquisition; and sometimes it is the venerable industry giants really making a substantive change. The last is rare, often painful, and invariably slower than the others...but the recent HPE Discover event persuaded me that I am probably witnessing such a transformation.

HPE Re-Discovers Its Roots and Looks Forward to an Intelligent Edge (Video)

This year’s Discover event was the first time the 20-year HPE employee and engineer, Antonio Neri took the stage as President and CEO. Antonio was engaging and humble – a very approachable CEO, he seemed to be acutely aware of the HP legacy, but is determined to drive HPE forward.

HPE Discover in Madrid  (includes video)

Here is my summary video from HPE's latest Madrid installment of its Discover user event series. It's a little different from the usual ESG On Location video format inasmuch as I spent the vast majority of my camera time interviewing HPE execs and customers, rather than my ESG colleagues. The customer interviews were done for HPE and will appear on its channels over the coming weeks. Meantime, in this summary video you'll find sample "snippets" from some of the HPE exec interviews (with full versions to follow soon), together with a comment from me about mega-events in general, and then specifically my key takeaway from Discover in Madrid.

HPE Discover-ing Its True Identity

This month saw the US version of HPE Discover in jolly old Vegas. Apparently - with apologies to R.L.Stevenson - Jekyll and Hyde are alive and well and embodied in Hewlett and Packard! Because, boy is it hard to figure things out as far as this venerable corporate IT behemoth goes.

In my "ESG On Location" video from the event I try to get to an insight about HPE that is more nuanced than merely a summary of the contemporary newsfeed; I should ask you to view that video first to get a flavor of things in Vegas and then I will add a few more explanatory comments.....

A Slimmer HPE Means There’s More to “Discover?" (Includes Video)

As is now traditional, HPE follows the US Thanksgiving celebrations with its Discover event in Europe. Just last week thousands of loyal HPE users, potential users, and a bunch of market watchers turned up in London's Docklands to hear what the company had to show and tell.

Taking a hint from the [surprising] local weather, HPE sported a decidedly sunny disposition all week. Perhaps that's to be expected after the HP split and the more recent - ongoing – spin-out/mergers of the software and services parts of the business. This is clearly a middle-aged company that has shed weight...the question now is how nimble and nifty it can be while remaining both valuable and invaluable to its customers. I add some extra commentary below, but first please take a look at the video blog I put together at Discover - a quick skim across a very large pond.
