Plan for Hybrid Data Protection Media in 2016

More and more folks are first protecting their data (backups, archives, etc.) to disk — for several good reasons, including SLAs for data retrieval/restoration/recovery, deduplication efficiencies, etc. But as definitively as disk is the preferred “protection storage” as a second tier, the third tier is far less defined.

EMC Hybrid Cloud Bridges Private and Public Clouds

Businesses of every size are evaluating or integrating with some kind of cloud computing model. But how they get there and who they turn to remains a challenge. At an IT industry level, it also is fascinating to observe which IT vendor's cloud strategy will be successful and how IT professionals leverage trusted relationships they have built with IT vendors. Businesses also see the value in hybrid cloud and want IT to capture the control, management, and orchestration across both on-prem and off-prem consumption models as they broker traditional and new IT services to the business.

Reflections from CiscoLive

Last week I attended CiscoLive in sunny San Diego--well sort of sunny, apparently San Diego was suffering from "June Gloom," which resulted in mostly cloudy days--but I digress. It was a great opportunity to hear from Cisco executives like John Chambers and get caught up on the latest and greatest from Cisco. I'll start with my thoughts from the John Chambers keynote.
