NetApp: Blurring the Lines Between DR and Backup

With never-ending data growth impacting data protection, IT struggles to assemble solutions that properly meet the objectives set out by management for backup and recovery and disaster recovery. For years, backup and disaster recovery strategies were mutually exclusive and often managed by separate groups entirely. While there can be perfectly good business reasons for this, reductions in IT staff and flat budgets have forced organizations to streamline staff and responsibilities. The question has surfaced around whether DR could become the new backup; with technology advancing and newer solutions available, the line between these two functions has begun to blur.
