Research Brief: 2011 Western Europe IT Spending Trends

Data from ESG’s 2011 IT Spending Intentions Survey indicates that Western European IT organizations, like their North American counterparts, are continuing to restore IT spending to pre-2008 financial crisis levels. A higher percentage of European respondents, however, will reduce their IT budget in 2011, suggesting that these organizations have not reached the same level of stability as those in North America. Given their focus on cost mitigation strategies, it is not surprising to see that the top IT priorities for Western European organizations include server and desktop virtualization, as well as data center consolidation.
