I have written an ESG brief on PLUMgrid CloudApex. The brief is available to ESG subscription clients only, but I have summarized a few points below.
Right before OpenStack Summit in Tokyo and on the heels of landing major telecom service provider NTT (SmartConnect) as a customer, PLUMgrid announced the availability of CloudApex, a modern cloud network visualization platform that provides:
- A graphical user-interface called an affinity-based UI that displays the relationships between the physical and virtual network resources. This is significantly better than tabular formats seen in many networking products.
- Health status with a real-time display of virtual machine and network status. It highlights relevant elements based on health threshold criteria by self-organizing the information in its display.
- Diagnostics that use an in-kernel telemetry framework that provides real-time data across a distributed framework. This is superior to data sampling or using agents that run outside the kernel.
This product is available in technical preview in Q4 of 2015, and will be generally available in Q1 of 2016. Customers, existing and new, have viewed this product and plan to leverage CloudApex to solve the key challenge of effective monitoring for virtual and physical networks. This complements the PLUMgrid console, which is the user interface that provides all the configuration and management functionalities for PLUMgrid ONS.
