Rubrik delivers a platform to manage and protect data in the cloud, at the edge, and on-premises. Providing a unified user experience for data protection stemming from multiple sources for the enterprise space with an API-first strategy, the company recently released version 4.2 of its Alta management platform, adding key capabilities to further its ability to support hybrid cloud environments. In ESG’s 2018 IT Spending Intentions Survey, 46% of respondents indicated that they use cloud infrastructure services (IaaS and PaaS) for running production applications and 74% of organizations said that they are currently using SaaS. The need to protect data in the cloud has clearly become as critical as protecting it in “traditional” on-premises environments or in remote offices. In this release, Rubrik adds support for cloud-native AWS EC2 workloads, vCloud Director (a great play for the MSP channel), and…AIX and Solaris platforms. This is impressive for one release, and it clearly positions the company even more squarely against a number of incumbents. Who said the data protection market was boring?
