The Delta-V Awards: 20 Companies That Changed Big Data in 2015

ESG Delta V AwardsAvid readers will have no doubt noticed I've been unusually quiet lately. It's been a busy end to the year, wrapping up a lot of holiday gifts project deliverables for clients. Thankfully, I've also had some extra time to reflect on 2015 and all the big developments in the wide, wide world of big data and analytics. I'd like to share my lasting impressions of the year that was, and to make it even more special, I'm introducing the ESG "Delta-V" awards to give credit where credit is due.

Those of you who remember your physics lessons will be well aware of the concept of Delta-V as a change in velocity. So, natch, these awards will recognize the top 20 companies that accelerated innovation. Before you get your PR team or lawyers on speed dial, let me say that this is not a rigorous survey of the industry landscape and other (less reputable) analyst firms can continue to run their boxy extortion rackets. The winners here are not necessarily ESG clients either. I just want to share the compelling ideas that really resonated with me.

For the sake of taxonomy and navigation, we'll have six categories represented throughout the process:

Enjoy the lists, let me know your opinions (let's have an enjoyable debate for a change), and have yourself a relaxing holiday season with friends and family. Check back over the next couple weeks to see which companies are represented in our Delta-V awards, and don't forget to set aside your mobile device so you can look your loved ones in the eyes and/or eat cookies with both hands!
