Christophe: Welcome to ESG On Location. We're in Las Vegas at Dell Technologies World. I am joined here today by Alex Almeida who will tell us about what's going on in the world of data protection. Alex?
Alex: Christophe, great to see you here in Vegas at Dell Tech World.
Christophe: Great to be here and I heard you may have gambled a little money yesterday.
Alex: Last night was rough, let me tell you. But, let's not gamble with data here, right?
Christophe: That's a very good point. So, if I could use another analogy, let's double down on data protection.
Alex: I love it.
Christophe: Tell us about what you announced yesterday, actually.
Alex: Yeah. So, we're here on the third day of Dell Tech World. Yesterday was a big day for data protection within Dell Technologies, the announcement of the PowerProtect software as well as the PowerProtect X400 appliance. So, this is the next iteration, the next step in innovation and moving data protection where it needs to be in this multi-cloud world.
Christophe: Right. And I know you also announced another IDPA product for the mid-markets. So, you're really comforting your position on the IDPA and then adding a new set of solutions declined as software and appliance. But, I think what's important to me here is and should be important to our viewers is the fact that this is net new, this is new code.
Alex: Absolutely.
Christophe: This is a new solution. And when is the last time that this market saw such a giant in data protection launch a new product?
Alex: I think that is the undertone here that is really should be the big point, right, is that this is a major shift. This is from the ground up development that has been done by our teams and specifically that is something that the data protection users out there need again to get into this next shift that they're seeing, this next wave.
Christophe: Right. And I heard it's also being positioned as data management, so we won't go there but I'm sure there'll be more about that in the future.
Alex: Definitely.
Christophe: And I know that the focus has been placed on VMware, SAP, SQL, or Oracle and SQL I should say.
Alex: Yes, absolutely.
Christophe: I'm sure there'll be SAP at some point and others, so we'll keep an eye on that. Tell us about your experience here on the floor. Have you talked to many customers and what's going on with cyber resilience and cyber protection?
Alex: All great questions. I have been having a lot of conversations with customers. It's been amazing how much data protection is at the forefront of mind with customers here at Dell Technologies World. Yes, as you mentioned, cyber resilience is one of those things. VMware is another one of those things in terms of how they're protecting workloads in the cloud, on prem, in that multi-cloud world.
So, it's about how are these customers protecting their workloads efficiently and being a little bit smarter about how they're retaining data and how they're protecting their business from the evolving cyber threats of today. And for that, we have been talking a lot about our cyber recovery solution, specifically about isolating data away into a specific vault, and from there giving that additional layer of protection for those customers.
Christophe: Excellent. And as we know, cyber crime is not stopping. If anything, it's actually...
Alex: Growing and evolving.
Christophe: Evolving and with the emergence of IoT, there will probably be further threats.
Alex: Absolutely.
Christophe: Thank you so much for your time and well, let's go gamble.
Alex: Christophe, a pleasure as always. Thank you.
Christophe: Thank you.
